Please Adopt a Rescue Cat

Adoption is a great idea for so many different reasons!

Here are just a few good reasons to Adopt a Cat…..

1. You are Saving a Life! Besides just changing a rescue cat’s world for the better, you are usually save their life! If a cat escapes starvation and disease by being rescued, many of them still cannot find homes. Because it is expensive to keep hundreds of animals and there is a lack of funds, many shelters often euthanize (put to sleep) animals that they have not been able to find homes for. The hardest ones to find homes for are the older cats, black cats and cats and kittens with disabilities or physical challenges.
(Please don’t pass up a senior kitty because you think you won’t have much time with them. Cats kept indoors have been known to live up to 20 yrs. of age. There could be plenty of time left to enjoy together! With an adult cat “what you see is what you get.” Kittens, like children, change as they mature. That sweet baby may not have exactly the same personality as an adult. However, if that senior kitty at the rescue loves to sit in your lap, you can know you have a lap baby forever!)

2. Adopting a cat can Save You a lot of Money! If you purchase an animal from a pet store or breeder, you will likely spend hundreds of dollars. Most rescues charge a small fee based on only what is necessary to pay for the cat’s care. Also most rescues and shelters include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and worming in the adoption fee. If your vet provided the same kind of services, it would be far more expensive. Sometimes shelters even include food, litter, accessories, and toys…….saving you even more money!

3. Pets have been scientifically proven to be Good for Your Health! Cat companions enrich our lives in so many ways. Research shows there are health benefits to owning a cat such as lower blood pressure and decreased risk of heart attack and stroke. The presence of a furry friend lessens loneliness and depression and gives us a reason to get up in the morning.
Cats also provide comfort and help you deal with feelings of all kinds of sadness and grief. Not only do animals give unconditional love, but they are psychologically, emotionally and physically beneficial to their companions.

4. Adoption helps Save More Than just One Cat! All shelters, rescues and private foster homes are overburdened because of the millions of stray, abused and lost animals out there. By adopting, you’re making room for others to come in to the rescue who also need our help. Not only are you giving more animals a second chance, but the cost of your adoption goes directly towards helping those rescues better care for the animals they take in!
